The Nevada State Democratic Party took on Nevada’s Republican Representative Joe Heck’s June 8, 2011 appearance at the American Legion Post 40, in Henderson, Nevada. Calling the event a “trainwreck” the Democratic Party wrote:

Less than 24 hours after calling Social Security a “pyramid scheme” again, Heck held a trainwreck townhall last night where he and his staff said multiple times that the only questions allowed to be asked were those pertaining to veterans issues.

It was reported that Heck used Republican Sharron Angle’s technique of dodging reporters. The Nevada Dems continued:

In fact, it was so bad that in a scene reminiscent of last year’s Senate race in Nevada, Heck actually “ran into a private room when approached by reporters at the end of the town hall,” despite telling the audience he would stay to address additional questions according to the Las Vegas Sun.

Describing how “bad” the trainwreck was, The Democrat site quoted from the Las Vegas Sun explained:

Because the forum was held at an American Legion hall, Heck said he would answer only questions related to veterans’ issues. Social Security arguably falls into that category, but Heck wouldn’t budge, even though an announcement advertising the event, posted Monday on Facebook, listed Social Security, Medicare and Veterans Affairs as the main topics for discussion.

It is understandable that Heck, having called Social Security a “pyramid scheme” wouldn’t want to talk about it. Even his Republican supporters who receive Social Security doesn’t want to hear him characterize the Social Security program in that manner. Social Security is something that Democrats and Republicans (and independents as well) seem to agree on. They all want it left alone because it is a government program that works, Heck and Paul Ryan notwithstanding.

Special Election for CD#2 and Nye County

Mark Amodei, Nevada Republican Party Chairman, announced today he is entering the election for the 2^nd Congressional District of Nevada. (That includes Nye County). The seat he is running for is the seat vacated by Dean Heller to become Senator.

The Special Election will be held September 13.

So far ~~four~~ five Republicans have announced their candidacies for the 2^nd District.

At this same moment there are three Democrats running for the 2^nd District.

Democrats have never held the 2^nd District seat. The district has always been represented by a Republican.

There will be more announcing their run for the 2^nd District in the days ahead.

We, here in Pahrump and Nye County, will surely be seeing and hearing from them all during the course of their campaigns. We’ll try to keep up with them all.

Sharron Angle angling in New Hampshire

Sharron Angle may have failed to unseat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) in 2010, but the loss hasn’t stifled her political ambitions. In December, Angle launched the Patriot Caucus PAC to help the Tea Party get organized in advanced of the 2012 election. The new PAC is scheduled to open offices in Florida, Iowa, and New Hampshire in early 2011.
Some are speculating that Angle may even be planning to run for president in 2012, a rumor she neither confirmed nor denied at a recent event in Iowa. [New Hampshire Primary 2012]

“Fortunately, I rely on the good Lord for guidance, and He has told me that Nevada needs to cut its government by at least 54%.” – Sharron Angle

“Brian Sandoval correctly points out that we cannot throw money at a problem. Let’s face it, education in Nevada stinks.”

So says Sharron Angle in an article written by her contained in The Nevada View. She was writing about Republican Governor’s state of the state address. She blames government. “Clearly, it’s all the fault of government in the first place. If they weren’t running education, it would take care of itself.”

“It is the duty of the superior class of people (wealthy + white + Christian) to contain these other “heathen” people. So why waste money educating them? Just put them to work in our factories at extremely low wages, and America will regain its number one status in the world. It is the outsourcing of jobs to third world countries that has caused most of our problems. Blame unions and these lower class organizers who have a sense of entitlement who are to blame.”

She continued:

“As my friend over at Desert Conservative said, we need to fight against the homosexual agenda of the Democrats and the teachers’ unions. Clearly, that is why they want more funding for education, so they can ram that gay stuff down our throats. I don’t think so! No more kowtowing to coloreds and gays. We must take back Nevada.”

Well, we know how she stands. Anyone want to recall their vote for Mrs. Angle?

Update January 28, 2011: I received a comment from Justin, who I understand is an editor for The Nevada View. Justin informed me that the article about Mrs. Angle was a parody, not written by Mrs. Angle at all. In fact, if one scrolls to the bottom of the page on The Nevada View it expressly states it is a parody.

I missed that when I read it and when I wrote the blog post. But I want to straighten it out rather than erroneously tag the authorship of the article onto Mrs. Angle.

Justin did say that the quote about not “kowtowing to coloreds and gays” was written by Mrs. Angle.

Hope this doesn’t confuse you. I do like to be accurate in this blog.

She, at a Tea Party Rally in 2009, said:

"Take off the mandates for coverage in the state of Nevada and all over the United States. You know what I’m talking about. You’re paying for things that you don’t even need. They just passed the latest one, is everything that they want to throw at us now is covered under ‘autism’."

She went on to say,

"So, that’s a mandate that you have to pay for. How about maternity leave? I’m not going to have anymore babies, but I sure get to pay for it on my insurance. Those are the kinds of things that we want to get rid of."

“Her comments regarding autism coverage refer to Assembly Bill 162, which passed with sweeping bipartisan support in the Nevada Legislature in 2009. Only two Nevada legislators voted no on the bill: Assemblyman Ed Goedhart, R-Amargosa, Churchill, Esmeralda, Lincoln, Mineral, Nye counties, and Assemblyman Don Gustavson, R-Sparks, Humboldt, Lander, Washoe counties. The bill passed 60-2 in both houses with one legislator absent,” reported Huffington Post.

Angle is against reformation of health care coverage that went into effect yesterday. “She has said she will work to repeal it. requiring insurance companies to cover children with pre-existing conditions, removing life-time coverage caps and allowing young adults children to stay on their parents’ policies take effect this week.” Las Vegas Sun.

Angle is one cold-hearted woman. She has called “out-of-work Nevadans ‘spoiled’ by unemployment benefits and saying that rape victims should ‘make lemons into lemonade’ by having their attacker’s child, but mocking those suffering with autism – and in fact scapegoating their coverage for our nation’s current health care woes – is exceptionally cruel and represents a new low, even for Sharron Angle." Angle is obviously selfish. She doesn’t intend to spend a dime of her own money in aid of less fortunate Americans. She apparently doesn’t have a charitable bone in her body. She doesn’t even care about raped children.

When she appeared on conservative talk show of Bill Manders a caller asked her about insurance companies being required to insure people with “pre-existing conditions” she said it was “an insurance problem, not a health care problem” and “that the insurance cost problem can be addressed very well by the free market.”

Nonsense! That insurance companies would not insure people with pre-existing conditions was one of the primary reasons Health Insurance Reform was passed by Congress.

In 2005, when the Congress was under Republican control she said she would not have provided relief to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Huffington Post.Huffington Post.

Angle has become infamous for her interpretation of the Second Amendment, which she has said is intended to ensure that the people have the means to engage in armed revolt "when our government becomes tyrannical," suggesting that the time to employ such "Second Amendment remedies" may arrive if politicians like Harry Reid are not voted out of office. "[T]he nation is arming," says Angle, because the people "are afraid they’ll have to fight for their liberty in more Second Amendment kinds of ways." Huffington Post.

Even one of Angle’s Republican colleagues, Dawn Gibbons, says Angle should not be elected to the United States Senate. See video on Huffington Post.

Angle wants to abolish the Department of Education, withdraw from the United Nations, ban same-sex marriage, opposes abortion even in cases of rape and incest, favors privatization of Medicare, opposes fluoridating drinking water, wants to transition Social Security out, wants to abolish the IRS code, audit the Federal Reserve, abolish Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, opposes legalization of marijuana and alcohol, does not believe in global warming, wants to repeal regulations governing off-shore oil drilling, or drilling in ANWR, and supported three coal-fired plants in Ely, Nevada. Ms. Angle is, just as Senator Harry Reid has alleged, too extreme, even in Nevada.

It is amazing to me that she seems to be polling enough support to beat Senator Reid. Democrats that want competent representation in the United States Senate had best turn out in droves on November 2nd and vote, else they may well find they have no representation at all. It is painfully obvious and clear that Mrs. Angle doesn’t care about people, just herself.

She wants to get rid of social security or privatize it or have you save enough money yourself to manage your retirement years. Think you could have stashed away enough during your working years to live leisurely during your retirement?

George Bush wanted to privatize it saying it could be invested in the stock market and grow in size. Didn’t happen—thank goodness.

Don’t take a chance, the woods is full of Tea Party people. If you don’t want the likes of Sharron Angle, then be sure you vote on November 2.
