Angle wants news media to be her friend

That is what she told Carl Cameron on FOX news. Watch.

She is a bit naive.

Sharron Angle and Anti-abortion

Jon Ralston asks Sharron Angle about her position on a situation in which a 13-year old girl is raped by her father, would she permit an abortion.

Mrs. Angle told a conservative talk show host Bill Manders that there is no reason for an abortion in her book.

She distinguishes her position on pro-life in death penalty cases. Execution is apparently OK in her book because the executionee is not an innocent.

I’m taking it that she doesn’t see the 13 year old girl as an innocent.

Harry Reid is right. Sharron Angle is too extreme in her view.

The only question, I suppose, that remains is whether or not she is too extreme for Nevada?

She isn’t too extreme for the Nevada Republican Party or the Tea Baggers. But she is for me.

Sharron Angle: A Modern Day Moses

Sharron Angle for United States SenateSharron Angle thinks government entitlement programs (are) built to make government our God.

Anjeanette Damon of the Las Vegas Sun concludes that Ms. Angle is a Christian Reconstuctionalist who believes Social Security benefits, education policy or property taxes — turns government into a false idol.

Little difficult for me to think of government as an idol. But different strokes for different folks.

And these programs that you mentioned — that Obama has going with Reid and Pelosi pushing them forward — are all entitlement programs built to make government our God, she said told a TruNews interviewer. And that’s really what’s happening in this country, is a violation of the First Commandment. We have become a country entrenched in idolatry, and that idolatry is the dependency upon our government. We’re supposed to depend upon God for our protection and our provision and for our daily bread, not for our government.

Sharron Angle’s “Please Stop” Ad

FactCheck says “But Angle’s ad attempts to attribute all these woes to Reid personally; Angle repeatedly says ‘he’s done’ these things. That’s questionable, to put it mildly.”

Angle speaks and leaves without answering questions

Sharron Angle

Sharron Angle spoke to her 1,100 conservative supporters at Right Online today. It was a friendly audience for her. She spoke and promptly left without taking questions.

She outlined her positions:

“It’s one nation under God, not one nation under the government.”

She has “the right ‘Angle’ to defeat Harry Reid.”

She supports repeal of the estate tax.

She proposes paying left over stimulus money left over from TARP to Social Security “to save it.”

She proposes to abolish the Department of Education.

She advocates tightening the borders. “Every state needs at least one sheriff like Joe Arpaio.”

She wants to audit the Fed and liquidate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

She wants to withdraw from the United Nations.

She supports banning same-sex marriage.

She wants to phase out Medicare and Social Security.

She is against water fluoridation of drinking water

She wants to eliminate the Internal Revenue Service.

She opposes legalization of marijuana and feels the same about alcohol.

She does not believe in “anthropogenic global warming.”

Sharron’s run a calling from God?

Sharron Angle I’m really skeptical that God communicates with people telling them to run for election to some political office.

But then God has never spoken to me about the subject.

Sharron Angle has said that God called her to run against Harry Reid she told the Christian Broadcasting Network in an interview. [Las Vegas Sun] She goes on to explain “there is a preparation” time. [Las Vegas Sun] She explains that Moses, Paul and even Jesus had their times of preparation.

Sharron indicates her preparation time began on a Nye County school board. I have no idea how serving on a school board prepares one to be a Senator in Congress.

But I have to hand it to Ms. Angle. She seems to be dedicated and tenacious in her run for the Senate. I actually met her once. She was seeking votes at Petrack Park in Pahrump a few years ago during a Fall Festival event. She came up to me with that wonderful smile of hers, introduced herself and asked for my vote and support in whatever office she was running for at that time. She was gracious, polite and frankly likeable. I explained to her I was a Democrat and she shouldn’t expect my vote. Seeing that I was a lost cause she moved onto others in the Park.

She seems like a nice person. I admire her for her seemingly tireless effort to get elected to something. We just see the world through two different sets of eyes. She is reportedly a Southern Baptist. So am I. But we certainly see things differently.

I don’t think Ms. Angle has a frog hair’s chance of beating Harry Reid but it doesn’t seem to dampen her spirits in trying. But I think, in reality, she is a bit delusional in thinking she actually has a chance to unseat Senator Reid.

Confusing politics with religious beliefs is not uncommon. But they are two different things.

Jon Ralston says Sharron is falling behind Harry in the polls. He is leading her 44-37. [Las Vegas Sun] In fact Ralston declares Angles’ campaign as “dead.”

Sharron Angle’s Campaign is a “Mission from God”

Republican Sharron Angle says her campaign to unseat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in Nevada is “a calling” from God and that her faith is helping her endure a fiercely competitive race in which Democrats have depicted her as a conservative extremist. “When you have God in your life … he directs your path,” Angle told the Christian Broadcasting Network in an interview posted on its website Wednesday.

Sharron Angle’s Fundraising Surge

Republican Sharron Angle reported raising $2.3 million since late May for her campaign against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, an amount that nearly equaled what Reid has banked since April, so reports the Las Vegas Sun.

Senator Harry Reid is spending nearly $1 million a month — that’s more than he’s taking in.

Reid has a balance of about $9 million in the bank. Angle has about $1.8 million on hand.

Reid will need to raise an average of more than $44,000 a day to reach his goal of $25 million.

Sarah Palin backs Sharron Angle

Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin

I don’t find the fact that Sarah Palin backs Sharron Angle as particularly surprising.

Palin donated $2,500 (the limit) to Angle. Palin also donated to the following campaigns during April 1 to June 30:

  • Governor Terry Branstad in Iowa;
  • Joe Miller running against Senator Lisa Murkowski in Alaska;
  • Republican Carly Fiorina running for the Senate in California;

Palin is paying her financial dues to her fellow Republicans in preparation for something. I expect she’ll be running for something in 2012 or at least be set up for a plumb appointment (maybe to the cabinet) from the Republican Party.

The Las Vegas Sun notes Palin has supported Tea Party candidates.

Rise Up! Strike Back!

Eugene Turner stands at the Nevada JobConnect office on Maryland Parkway near Desert Inn Road on Friday. Turner's unemployment benefits will end in 10 weeks. The headline on MSNBC is “Republicans kill Senate Jobless aid measure.”

The lead paragraph reads:

Republicans on Thursday defeated Democrats’ showcase election-year jobs bill, including an extension of weekly unemployment benefits for millions of people out of work more than six months.

The Las Vegas Review Journal reports:

Eugene Turner has a word or two for U.S. senators who voted Thursday against a $109 billion bill that would have extended emergency unemployment benefits for job seekers like himself.

The photo above is of Eugene Turner. He says:

“They have no heart for the public — the working man,” Turner said Friday at the Nevada JobConnect office on Maryland Parkway near Desert Inn Road, where people were waiting to use computers.

Turner, who moved here from Los Angeles six weeks ago looking for work, said he’s scared about how he’s going to pay rent when his government assistance runs out.

“My bills ain’t going to stop in 10 weeks,” he said, shaking his head.
