I like movies. I watch a lot of them of all kinds. I used to watch most movies on DirectTV. You know, HBO, Starz, and the other premium channels.
But DirectTV doesn’t change their movie showings often enough. I’d watch the movies they had on, then have to wait until they changed their list so I could watch movies I hadn’t already seen. Those “premium” channels cost and arm and a leg.
So I decided to pare down my monthly subscription costs to DirectTV. I decided to get my movies from Netflix. I tried to unsubscribe from HBO, Starz and the other premium channels from DirectTV online. Can’t do it. You can sign up for those channels online but you can’t unsubscribe to them online. You have phone them to do so.
I realize they don’t want to lose customers by making it easy to unsubscribe. So I get some customer representative online and told her I wanted to unsubscribe to all those premium channels because I didn’t want to continue to pay and not be able to see movies except for the same old ones week in and week out. Told her I intended to get my movies from Netflix because I could pick and choose from tens of thousands of them and watch what I wanted rather than be stuck with those DirectTV kept showing. Besides Netflix was a heck of a lot less expensive than DirectTV. She kept trying to talk me out of it but I was relentlessly determined and stuck to my guns.
I did hate to give up HBO I must confess.
So, I’m now with Netflix for my movies. Today I read that Netflix is expanding their library of streaming movies. Was happy to read that.
