Over the next few weeks, 14,000 compact fluorescent lights will be given free to all 1,200 households in the central Nevada town as part of NV Energy’s Residential Energy Star Lighting Program.
Federal government studies show CFLs use 75 percent less energy than incandescent lights and last 10 times longer.
In Tonopah, residents can pick up their lights when they come to the town office to pay their water bills, he said, and town officials plans to deliver lights to homebound residents, said John Owens, NV Energy’s director of renewable generation and energy efficiency.
Wonder if they’ll do the same in Pahrump? [Reno Gazette-Journal]
