I am currently engaged in designing three websites for three people who are running for election in Pahrump, Nevada.
I have built and used some six or so websites over the years, but do not consider myself as an expert. At least as yet. But I am currently deeply immersed into the subject.
I have at least five books on the subject and visit any number of websites devoted to web design.
It is something like being back in law school. You have to focus intently on a lot of technological detail and assimilate a considerable number of factors. It is something of science and art. But I thoroughly enjoy doing it.
It is infringing upon my blogging time, but there is no other way.
One learns some interesting facts in the process. For example did you know that Internet Explorer is used by 70-72% of viewers of websites. Firefox is about 28%. Then the rest of people use Google Chrome or Safari or Opera in that order.
Internet Explorer 6 is considered the worst browser. Both Internet Explorer 7 and 8 are better. Version 6 is considered a buggy browser but is still used by many people.
Firefox 6 is considered to be a “very good browser.” Safari is traditionally an Apple or Mac browser.
Opera is the least used browser. It is a Mac browser.
Web designers have to spend considerable effort in insuring that websites they design can accommodate the quirks of the different browsers so that viewers can be satisfied.
Now, back to my journey of learning web design.
