In a Reno Gazette-Journal article by Anjeanette Damon Sue Lowden, Republican candidate for Governor of Nevada, has encountered a stumbling block arising from her history with labor unions.
To hear former state Sen. Sue Lowden tell it, she was the lone vote that stood in the way of the state’s powerful labor unions’ attempt to overturn Nevada’s voter-approved right-to-work status in a tense legislative battle in 1995.
The bill, as Lowden recounts, would have started the reversal process of the law that prohibits union membership from being a condition of employment.
The Gazette-Journal, however, points out:
There never was such a bill, and there never was such a vote, which Lowden acknowledged later when pressed for specifics.
The RGJ goes on to state that the, “Republican primary to determine who takes on U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., in November, she’s positioning herself as a foe to organized labor.”
One person, “Hangtown1”, left a comment on the RGJ article stating:
Sue Lowden is ethically challenged. As the campaign moves forward more and more dirt will be delivered to the press about her “stellar” business dealings. To put it in simple language, Lowden is a cheater. She cheated the delegates at the state convention when she was state Republican chairperson. She cheated her employees as per this piece and she also has judgments against her casino company, Archon Corp., for cheating shareholders on the redemption of her company’s preferred stock. It’s going to be a long campaign for sweet Sue!
