CANDIDATE FILING
· December 30, 2009: Party Change Deadline
No person may be a candidate of a major political party for partisan office in 2010 if he or she changed political affiliation to Democrat or Republican after December 30, 2009.
· January 4 – February 4, 2010: Independent Candidate Petition Filing
Period during which an independent candidate must submit his or her petition of candidacy to the appropriate filing officer for verification. Prior to circulating the petition, a copy must be filed with the filing officer. Please contact the Secretary of State for more information.
· January 4 – 15, 2010, Weekdays, 8:00am-5:00pm: Judicial Candidate Filing Period during which judicial candidates for State Supreme Court, District Court and Justices of the Peace may file to run for office in 2010.
· January 27, 2010, 5:00pm: Last Day to Withdraw Judicial Candidacy
· March 1 – 12, 2010, Weekdays, 8:00am-5:00pm: Candidate Filing (Non-Judicial) Period during which candidates may file to run for office in 2010.

· March 23, 2010, 5:00pm: Last Day to Withdraw Candidacy (Non-Judicial)
PRIMARY ELECTION
· May 8, 2010: Voter Registration Deadline
Last day to register, update registration or change party affiliation for the Primary Election without appearing in person at the Nye County Clerk’s Offices.
· May 9 – 18, 2010: In-Office Voter Registration
Voters may register, update registration or change party affiliation for the Primary Election in person only at one of the Nye County Clerk’s Offices during regular office hours. In addition to regular office hours, the Clerk’s Office will remain open until 9:00pm on May 17th and 18th.
· May 22 – June 4, 2010: Early Voting – Locations and hours to be announced
· June 1, 2010, 5:00pm: Absentee Ballot Request Deadline
Last day for the Nye County Clerk to receive written requests for the Primary Election.
June 8, 2010: Primary Election Day – Vote 7:00am to 7:00pm
GENERAL ELECTION
· October 2, 2010: Voter Registration Deadline
