Former state Senator Joe Heck today is announcing that he is dropping out of the governor’s race to run against U.S. Rep. Dina Titus, D-Nev.
Heck’s announcement changes the dynamic of the Republican governor’s primary. Gov. Jim Gibbons, who is suffering from a rock bottom approval rating, is counting on a crowded primary to be able to pull off a possible win. The move also benefits North Las Vegas Mayor Mike Montandon, who can more easily lay claim to Southern Nevada votes.
