Ensign votes against Sotomayor’s confirmation

Senator John Ensign Saying

While I believe Judge Sotomayor is an impressive role model for millions of Americans, I take my responsibility as Nevada’s Senator very seriously, and feel I need to protect the sanctity of our Constitution. “Judge Sotomayor’s record and testimony provide uncertainty and doubt that she will rule with a fair and impartial adherence to the rule of law."

To which Desert Beacon responds

In Ensign-World it is preferable to take a perfectly hypocritical stance against the confirmation of a ‘rule of law’ judge than to jeopardize his covenant with and among the corporatist elite, and it is unnecessary to respond to the inquiries of the opposition, the media, and the public because it appears that his first loyalty lies not with his constituents or even his own family, but to the self-serving, self-sustaining covenant into which he has entered – and which is invisible to the rest of us.
