A couple of friends of mine brought my attention to hate groups in the United States. Yes, I know we are supposed to be a Christian country and practice love for our fellow man.

But that is a fantasy. Hate is alive and well in the United States. I’ve even seen it here in Pahrump in the actions of a former Town Board a few years back in attacks on Pahrump Latinos with Town Ordinances all anti-Hispanic. That Town Board, of course was all white people. In fairness I should point out that the anti-Hispanic members of that former Town Board was not unanimous. I think the vote was 3-2. And I don’t know if those three were card-carrying hate group members. But I do know that it was Pahrump voters who elected them. Doesn’t say much for the intelligence of those voters.

But back to the reason for this post. The state of Nevada has 13 different hate groups according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. They are:
|

So, just who and what is this Southern Poverty Law Center’s Intelligence Project? It is dedicated to monitoring hate groups and extremist activity in the U.S.
Some will say the Southern Poverty Law Center is an organization of left wing liberals commie type socialists who are a bunch of non-patriotic ignoramuses. But I remember how the Nazis rose to power in Germany in the lead-in to World War II and their persecution of Jews in Europe. All while the majority of the populace of Germany and the rest of the world sat quietly by and let it happen.
I also watched as the police in Alabama turned fire houses and set their police dogs attack black people who were trying to gain their civil rights. The rest of us sat watching it all on television, quietly.
Racism is a serious problem in America. Fueled by immigration fears, the economic crisis and the election of a black president, racist hate groups increased their numbers again in 2008. The Southern Poverty Law Center has documented a staggering 926 hate groups operating in our country — a more than 50% increase since 2000, says the Southern Poverty Law Center.
My thanks to my two friends who brought this to my attention. They will remain anonymous, else may find a burning cross in their front yards as a warning from the Klan. Come to think of it, I might too.

I can totally understand about Pahrump what the town board did was more of a conservative thing not really racially oriented (not to say their weren’t racial motivations behind it) it was about illegal immigration . Pahrump does however, have a lot of nazi activity and so does the surrounding aria. In my community nazis are every where one man has a huge nazi flag in his trailer I’m told. In Pahrump two Mexican restaurants were fire bombed. Some blacks who moved in to a home there had it spray painted with racist graffiti. My friend who is Latino accidently brushed against young whit man in wal mart. When he said “sorry” the man looked at him and said “fuckin white power!” This same friend was harrased by some other young men as he was jogging to his car who shouted “run beaner!” You can see nazi tattoos all over Pahrump and surrounding. Nazi grafitti is common in public restrooms and a nazi bumper sticker about blacks being hiv positive was stuck in a restroom stall in the Pahrump wal mart. The foreman of a ranch near Pahrump sports swastika tattoos and gives the Nazi salute. It just goes on and on.
Such incidents and observations you describe, Shf84, can be found almost anywhere. It is sad and shameful. It seems to be increasing according to news media. Just doesn’t make senses.
I believe these unAmerican biggots should be deported and or executed for being unAmerican. The Constitution was never intended to protect such filthy and hateful action under guise of peacefully organized groups. If these un American biggots do not like that then they can be removed by force if necessary by society at large in defense of the preservation of the intended American ways of life.
Well, T. Jefferson, you may be a bit extreme. If we believe in the Constitution of the United States and that we are a nation of laws, then summary deportation or execution for being “unAmerican” is really too far. The Constitution doesn’t promote violent reaction against those we may not like. Kind of would be reverting to behavior not unlike those “hate groups.” Hatred and biggotry has been around since mankind has populated this earth. A real difficult nut to crack. But, I still subscribe to being a nation of law. Whatever an “American way of life” is likely differs among us. But I do understand your frustration.
