Evan Sutton reports on Organizing for America
Evan Sutton, Nevada Field Director for Organizing for America reports: [Facebook]
Hello Nevada!
Jennifer and I have completed the first round of the Nevada Listening Tour, with stops in Henderson, Las Vegas, Pahrump, Reno, Carson City and Elko. Thanks to all who attended and shared their ideas with us.
As everyone knows by now, Healthcare Reform is our number one priority. It is critical that we show Congress that Nevadans support the President, and that we won’t sit quietly while special interests and their mouthpieces in Washington attempt to destroy our chance at reform.
We need YOU to take a direct role. Now more than ever, we rely on volunteers to take the reins of this movement. Please consider planning an event to support healthcare reform. A phone bank, a canvass, or a few hours collecting signatures at the DMV is all it takes to make a REAL DIFFERENCE. If you’d like to plan an activity, please contact us at nevadaofa@gmail.com, and we’ll make sure you have all of the information you need to make your event a success! [Read more →]

Town of Pahrump’s new Newsletter
Bill Kohbarger, Town Manager of Pahrump, has instituted a Newsletter to keep citizens of Pahrump informed about the Town and it’s government.
I applaud his effort. I signed up to receive the Newsletter and have just received the first issue, Volume 1, Number 1. It contains an article on Pahrump Valley Fire-Rescue written by Scott Lewis, Pahrump’s Fire Chief. Then there is another piece about about Incorporation – Does the Town need to become a City? written by Mr. Kohbarger. Plus a another about the Town Manager Evaluation.
There is also a Calendar of Events so you can keep up with happenings in Pahrump. It includes
Census 2010 !!!
The Pahrump Complete Count Committee is forming to increase awareness about the Census. We need YOU to volunteer to help motivate and educate our community on the importance of filling out and returning the Census questionnaire. Please “pitch-in” to help “pitch” the value of the Census. Join us at our next meeting on June 22 at 6:00 PM in Room B of the Ruud Community Center. For further information, call Vicky Parker at 764-8809 or Cookie Westphal at 727-5107.
Looks like a good start to me. A tip of my hat to Mr. Kohbarger and his effort. Anything that promotes communications between government and people is a good thing.
If you want to receive the Newsletter too, it is simple. Just send Mr. Kohbarger an e-mail asking him to add your email address to the list. His email is bkohbarger@pahrumpnv.org. And, try to help out in the Census 2010. It is a good thing and will help the Town of Pahrump moneywise as well.
