Banks win, consumers loose on Foreclosure Bill

Good legislation goes to the Senate to die or be killed.

The Senate on Thursday rejected an effort to stave off home foreclosures by a vote of 51 to 45. It was an overwhelming defeat, with the bill’s backers falling 15 votes short — a quarter of the Democratic caucus — of the 60 needed to cut off debate and move to a final vote. [Huffington Post]

The death of the bankruptcy reform measure — which would have allowed a small number of homeowners who met strict conditions to renegotiate mortgages under bankruptcy protection — is a major tactical win for the banking industry.

Tell Senator Landrieu to fish or cut bait on healthcare

Karen Gadbois was named 2008 New Orleanian of the year. Now she’s speaking out in favor of the public health insurance option, which her Senator, Mary Landrieu, is opposing.

Call Senator Landrieu at 202-224-5824 and ask her to support the public health insurance option if she wants America’s support for re-election.

Clark County Democratic Party Website

Today I took a look at the Clark County Democratic Party’s website. Their Home page is really good. Nice, neat and clean looking. Not too “busy” with a lot of pictures and other stuff that might distract from the information they convey on the Home page. There is a Featured Story, a list of Future Events, E-Board & Staff, News, Clubs and Caucus News, Greeting from Senator Reid, Web Resources, a Monthly Archive and even a Current Visitor list. Sharron Angle runs against Harry Reid

hm2hdr3 Being the news junkie I am, somehow I missed that Sharron Angle has decided to run against Senator Harry Reid. But she is. You can see her campaign website here.

I haven’t seen anything about her run against Senator Reid in the Review Journal or Las Vegas Sun, but perhaps I overlooked it.

She is the first (and maybe the last) Republican I’m aware of to take the plunge.
