Thank you for the comment Bonnie. I agree a Democratic Women's group would be a very good thing. Democrats in Pahrump have never been able to establish and maintain any kind of club or such a group. I've lived in Pahrump six years and have seen two Democratic fail. Of course, the Pahrump Meetup has now failed. The reason? Lack of interest in attending the meetings. The problem with one of the two Democratic Clubs was members bickering among themselves. Both the clubs were co-ed. I think a Democratic Women's Club would be a good thing. The Republican Women's Club seems to be the backbone of the Republican Party here in Pahrump.

Overall the primary problem, as I see it, with Democrats is apathy. It requires real effort and willingness to do the volunteer work to form and maintain a viable political club.

The new Central Committee has been described as being in a coma. Not my description, but someone else's.

The national group, Organizing for America, will be in Pahrump on July 16 at the Community Center, 7:00 p.m. on a Listening Tour. One of their stated aims is to build the local Democratic Parties into a organized groups. Evan Sutton, who was the regional director of the Obama campaign has been named to be in charge of it. Perhaps the Democratic Party of Nye County will, at last, become organized.

I believe to increase the potential of the Democratic Party in Pahrump, a Democratic Womens group would be a good place to start. The problem that unlies the Democratic Party in Pahrump seems to be either a don't ask, don't tell policy or keep it behind closed doors. I am not sure if they feel out numbered or somehow threatened in Pahrump but that could be fixed with weekly radio shows, t.v. shows, and such. Another problem this town faces is the young seem to be leaving at a faster pace and economics in this town are such that the town could just plain be dying out. People are out of work, checks and income is being cut back which cuts expendable gas and volunteerism.
