Sonia Sotomayor is Obama’s Supreme Court Choice
President Obama has chosen Judge Sonia Sotomayor of the Federal Appeals Court as his nominee for the Supreme Court, officials said on Tuesday, and has scheduled an announcement for 10:15 a.m. at the White House.
Ms. Sotomayor, 54, will be the first Hispanic to serve on the Supreme Court if her nomination is approved by the Senate. [New York Times]

If Sotomayor is appointed to the court, she will be the third woman ever to serve on the Supreme Court (after O’Connor and Ginsburg) as well as the court’s first justice of Hispanic descent.
