Which Search Engine Do You Use?

We all use search engines looking for information on the Internet. There are a number of them. They get rated just like TV programs are rated.

The top three are Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft/Windows Live.

The overall search market grew 16.7 percent to 9.5 billion searches from March 2008 to March 2009. Google’s share of that grew 27.6 percent to 6.1 billion, Nielsen said Friday. [CNET News]

Imagine that, 9.5 billion searches during the past year! And Google beats out Yahoo! and Microsoft. 64.2% of all those searches were through Google. Yahoo! had 15.8%; Microsoft 10.3%.

I generally use Google instead of Windows Live Search. Probably because I switch back and forth in browsers. I endeavor to use Microsoft’s Internet Explorer version 7. I tried IE version 8, the latest version, but it kept failing as “not responding.” A “not responding” error isn’t much help because it never gives me a clue as to the cause of it’s failure to respond. Internet Explorer seems slower than Firefox to me. I often use Firefox in lieu of Internet Explorer because Firefox (1) fails a lot less frequently, (2) seems faster and (3) has some handy add-ons one can use.
