The Georgia peanut out (apparently no connection to former President Jimmie Carter) has been knowingly shipping peanut butter with salmonella since 2007. Of course no one in President Bush’s administration’s FDA didn’t catch it because they don’t inspect food producers very often. [Review Journal, February 7, 2009, page 7A]
Eight have died and 575 are ill in 43 states.
One would hope that the Obama administration will take rapid steps to clean up this FDA mess and prosecute those responsible in the Peanut Corporation for either second degree murder or manslaughter. If possible those in the FDA who are responsible should be prosecuted as well. Wouldn’t hurt to prosecute Bush either, he was in charge of it all.
