Times are tough–need a hand up?

Need hand up? There is an article in the Thursday, January 22, 2009. Page 3 issue of the Pahrump Mirror. The article tells of Sunrise Children’s Foundation, a “family of government aid.” They are located at 160 Emery Street, Suite A, Pahrump.

The Family-to-Family Connection works with low income families with children from birth to 4 years of age. They offer a service of support, parenting classes, car seat classes, assistance with applications for Medicaid, housing, Nevada Check-up and the energy assistance program.

Note: a reminder that Nevada Check-up is the Nevada state program funded through the federal SCHIP legislation that United States Congressman Dean Heller voted against. I remind you because Mr. Heller will be up for re-election in 2010. Just don’t want you to forget.

The Family Resources Center works with case management of families and individuals seeking aid, such as directing the unemployed to JobConnect or helping the homeless to get Medicaid and food stamps.

They also offer help to folks applying for the long-term Energy Assistance Program (EAP). You might want to keep EAP in mind considering rising fuel costs and joblessness. So if your electric bill is getting out of hand you might want to contact them to see if you can get a hand in dealing with VEA.
