You don’t have to go to DMV and spend time in line to get your new driver’s license, according to the Pahrump Mirror, January 8, 2009 issue, page 5.
In an effort to create a more secure system, new and renewing driver’s licenses and identification cards will be issued from a centralized facility rather than over the counter at your neighborhood DMV office.
When you apply for a renewal, your current card will be invalidated and returned to you, a permanent card will be in the mail to you within 10 days. In place of the actual card you will receive a temporary document that will be valid for up to 30 days from issuance. Your invalidated card will no longer be a valid form of identity and so you should keep both the old card and the temporary document to avoid potential problems.
The new service debuted in Carson City last October and is now being rolled-out to the rural locations throughout Nevada.
